ABSTRACT

As more consumers have turned to online shopping since the COVID-19 pandemic, communication through offline channels has also entered a new phase. Young consumers recognize offline channels as a play space for enjoying various experience elements. Applying Pine and Gilmore's (1998) experiential economy theory, this study initially explores the structure of experience factors in the context of experiential fashion stores (RQ1). Next, we investigate the effect of experience factors on consumer loyalty by mediating store attachment (RQ2). In addition, the moderating effect of fashion innovativeness was verified (RQ3). This survey targeted members of the MZ generation who have visited experiential fashion stores. A total of 225 survey responses were analyzed using AMOS 22.0 and SPSS 26.0. First, as a result of factor analysis, the experience factors of experiential fashion stores were classified into education, escapism, and aesthetic entertainment. Secondly, as a result of structural equation modeling (SEM), all three experience factors positively affected store attachment, and increased attachment positively enhanced consumer loyalty. Finally, as a result of multigroup SEM analysis, consumers with low fashion innovativeness considered educational experience as an important factor in inducing store attachment, while consumers with high fashion innovativeness value escapism and aesthetic entertainment experiences. © 2023, The Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles. ABSTRACT

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing policies, higher education has adopted a new online learning system (e.g., viewing recorded lectures at one's own pace or participating in online streaming courses) as a necessary education service. Although many universities have switched to face-to-face courses in light of the reduced spread of the coronavirus, the new system could be a meaningful complement to the traditional learning method. This study focuses on identifying factors that influence students' utilization of new lecture systems in universities. This research considered undergraduates majoring in management and other fields in South Korea through structural questionnaires. It analyzes the data using the partial least squares methodology of structural equation analysis. The results show that learners' innovativeness could increase their willingness to use the system, and the learning interaction in a course could improve students' learning satisfaction. Furthermore, the innovativeness could lead to a positive relationship between learning satisfaction, intention to use, and the system's potential impact. These findings suggest that instructors and universities need to offer new opportunities to promote students' willingness and motivation, as well as their preparation for online courses and learning interactions.

ABSTRACT

PurposeThis study investigates how entrepreneurial leadership fosters market orientation, bank innovativeness and bank performance;it also investigates how market orientation contributes to brand orientation, bank innovativeness and bank performance.Design/methodology/approachIn total, 1500 questionnaires were distributed to 100 bank branches in Indonesia (500 to managers and 1000 to employees);300 responses (20% response rate) were used for further statistical analysis.FindingsThe results confirmed the existence of relationships among entrepreneurial leadership, market orientation, bank innovativeness, brand orientation and bank performance. The role of entrepreneurial leadership in fostering market orientation, bank innovativeness, brand orientation and bank performance demonstrates that leaders can motivate employees to complete their tasks.Practical implicationsThe findings suggest that entrepreneurial leadership, new ideas and innovative products and services can foster bank performance.Originality/valueThe emerging banking industry in Indonesia has witnessed changing market conditions. Banks will benefit from being more market-driven and diverse in their customer relationships to generate value.

ABSTRACT

Background and aims: With the epidemic of the COVID-19 virus and the increasing development of information and communication technology, an opportunity has emerged for medical and therapeutic service providers to develop telemedicine services. In the current research, the authors tried to explain people's turn to this technology by expanding the Unified Theory of Use and Acceptance of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and adding the features of telemedicine services. Methods: The current research is applied from the point of view of the objective, and in terms of data collection, it is considered to be descriptive research, which is carried out by the correlation-causal method. The data collection tool is a standard questionnaire with a Likert scale, distributed by available sampling among the population with a history of using telemedicine services in Ahvaz city. Finally, 407 usable questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS and Smart PLS. Results: The results show that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, perceived product advantage, and perceived security have a significant and positive effect on the intention to use telemedicine. Moreover, the moderating role of innovativeness and gender was confirmed. Conclusion: UTAUT2 and some characteristics of telemedicine services can well explain the intention to use this technology in the context of COVID -19. In addition, considering the moderating role of personal innovation and gender in some relationships between the model and product features confirmed, it is necessary to pay attention to the individual characteristics of people using these technological services in the design of telemedicine services. © 2022 Iran University of Medical Sciences. ABSTRACT

PurposeThe explosion of technology has revolutionized the teaching and learning process in higher education. Students are using the digital technology to aid their learning process. In this sense, digital divide exists among students in higher education as they come from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Thus, this study aims to examine the digital usage among the students from the low-income families (B40) in higher education institutions.Design/methodology/approachThe data was drawn by using an online survey from the undergraduates (low-income families B40) in Malaysia higher education institutions. In total, 391 responses were collected. The data was analysed using structural equation modelling method.FindingsThe results showed that performance expectancy and facilitating conditions have a significant relationship with digital usage. In addition, personal innovativeness has positive significant effect on performance expectancy and effort expectancy.Research limitations/implicationsThis study sheds light on the students from the lower income family behaviour while using digital technologies for their learning purpose.Originality/valueThe study further contributes to the new knowledge on students from the low-income family's behaviour in using digital technology for their learning process.

ABSTRACT

Recently, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has led to rapid digitalisation in education, requiring educators to adopt several technologies simultaneously for online learning and teaching. Using a large-scale survey (N = 1740), this study aims to construct a model that predicts teachers' extensive technology acceptance by extending the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with their technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) and innovativeness. TAM has been a valuable tool to measure the adoption of new technology in various contexts, including education. However, TAM has been designed and principally applied to assess user acceptance of a specific technology implementation. This study has extended TAM to measure teachers' technology-enabled practice (online teaching) with the adoption of various technologies. The proposed model explains teachers' behavioural intention to teach online with a good fit. Our findings revealed the collective effects of TPACK, perceived usefulness (PU) of technology, and innovativeness on teachers' behavioural intention to teach online post-pandemic. Moreover, the study identified training and support from school as a significant predictor for both teachers' TPACK and PU. The novelty of this study lies in its model conceptualisation that incorporates both information-technology-based constructs and personal-competence-based features, including TPACK and innovativeness. Furthermore, our study contributes to the growing body of literature that addresses the online teaching adoption by schoolteachers in the post-pandemic era.

ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the fear of failure (FF) in entrepreneurship and its effect on the entrepreneurial orientation (EO) as a strategic orientation in firms. There has been much research on EO as a predictor of organizations' performance since it is considered a manifestation of the entrepreneurial direction inside the organization. Yet, the research on the relationships between individual-level variables and EO itself still has room for contribution, especially the internal aspects related to the entrepreneur or the manager. Therefore, this research aims to explore FF in entrepreneurship and its inhibiting and motivating roles. In addition, given that the firm is the unit of analysis in this study, this research explained how an entrepreneur's FF affects the EO of the firm amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. The study administered a quantitative research design using a structured questionnaire. The results showed a positive influence of the entrepreneur's fear of failure on the firm's entrepreneurial orientation manifested in the firm's innovativeness dimension. However, the other two dimensions that contribute to the firm's EO representation (proactiveness & risk-taking) showed insignificant relationships with the entrepreneur's FF. © 2022, Academic Conferences and Publishing International Limited. ABSTRACT

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, educational disruption has become a global concern, necessitating a concentration of regulators and new researchers to resolve. Thus, the current study examines the role of instructors' inventiveness and commitment to resolving educational disruptions in Malaysian institutions. Additionally, this paper explores the mediating function of educational system improvement in the relationship between teacher innovativeness, teacher commitment, and educational disruption in Malaysian universities. The current study collected primary data from chosen respondents via survey questionnaires. Additionally, the PLS-SEM was utilised to investigate the relationship between the variables in this study. The findings indicated that teachers' inventiveness and devotion to education positively resolve educational disruptions in Malaysian universities. Additionally, the data revealed that upgrading the educational system greatly mediates the relationship between teachers' innovativeness, teachers' dedication, and eradicating educational disturbance in Malaysian institutions. The current study serves as a guide for future scholars who wish to investigate this topic further and serves as a resource for policymakers who wish to design legislation to eradicate educational interruption. ABSTRACT

This study explores relationships between Corporate Frugality (CF), Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) and Crisis Preparedness (CP). CP was proposed as the surrogate measure for firm performance during actual crises. EO is also examined as a potential mediator in the CF-CP association. The hypotheses were tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling with data collected from randomly selected small businesses operating in the Tripolitania region of northwestern Libya during the current economic instability caused by civil unrest. Further, COVID-19 pandemic cases had significantly risen among the population at the time of the study. The findings show that CF can be instrumental in responding to market crisis requirements, while innovativeness only results in better CP and partially mediates the CF-CP association. These findings validate the CF construct, but entrepreneurs must cautiously proceed when exercising EO in response to crises. Furthermore, the study casts new light on how the association between EO dimensions and performance can differ across contexts. Building on the resource-based view and pecking order theory and integrating them with contingency theory, this study is the first to explore the effect of EO and its dimensions as the mediator between CF and CP. © 2023 World Scientific Publishing Company.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic forced higher education institutions to adopt e-learning systems to ensure continuous teaching and learning;however, this paradigm shift challenged students' learning processes and is considered unsuitable for continuous use. Thus, a model was developed and experimentally verified in the current study to determine the factors that influence students' uptaking of e-learning in the post-pandemic era. The Delphi method was employed to conceptualize the research framework, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to explore personality traits. The research model was then empirically tested by using data from 438 valid responses. The results showed that all personality traits, except for conscientiousness, significantly influenced the adoption of e-learning. The most decisive influencing trait was found to be extroversion (r = 0.756), whereas the trait that was found to have the most negligible impact was agreeableness (r = 0.305). Personal innovativeness and system usability were both found to highly correlate with a willingness to adopt e-learning. Except for the indirect effect of conscientiousness on the adoption of e-learning through system usability, all other personality traits were found to significantly mediate the adoption of e-learning through personal innovativeness and system usability. The results of this study could inspire stakeholders in the field of education, particularly e-learning platform designers, to consider students' personality traits and individual differences in the design of e-learning platforms, with the goal of increasing students' willingness and ability to adapt to these systems. The current study provides a contemporary perspective on the actions of e-learning users in the post-pandemic era. © 2023 by the authors.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: COVID-19 has made businesses increasingly dependent on technology to be competitive and efficient. Small and medium enterprises (SME) digitalisation and innovation research are widespread. SME digital transformation and innovation require government policies, initiatives and assistance. How the government can help SMEs achieve these goals is unclear. So, this paper aims to investigate how government policy may assist Vietnamese SMEs to boost innovation performance and digital transformation. Design/methodology/approach: The study will take a quantitative approach, with questionnaires distributed to 659 respondents from SMEs in Vietnam through snowball and convenience sampling procedures. The structural equational modelling method is used for data analysis. Findings: The study indicated that government policies supported Vietnamese SMEs' innovation and information technology (IT) capabilities. Government policy assistance also boosted IT capabilities and innovation. Furthermore, mediation effects show that digital transformation fully mediates the relationship between innovativeness and firm performance, whereas IT capabilities partially mediate this relationship. Research limitations/implications: Further research that replicates the findings and analyses contextual heterogeneities between nations is advised because Vietnam's pandemic setting was both similar and dissimilar. Practical implications: The study demonstrated government-company interactions through supportive policy. It investigated whether SMEs seeking digital transformation and innovativeness might gain competitive benefits by implementing effective knowledge management and enhancing their IT capabilities. Originality/value: A resource-based theoretical framework is extended to study how innovation, public policy and digital transformation for SMEs interact. The study confirms government policy strongly influences enterprises' digital development. Specifically, the new mediating effects of IT capabilities and digital transformation are explored and provide new insights into the existing literature. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants influencing the willingness of office workers to use coffee houses services in Silom and Sathorn areas in Bangkok during the COVID-19 outbreak. The conceptual framework presented comprises variety seeking, desire for unique products, cosmopolitanism, personal innovativeness, product evaluation, behavioral intention impact willingness to use coffee house services. The sample (n = 490) was gathered from online questionnaires using convenience and snowball sampling techniques. The study employed the Structural Equation Model (SEM) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) for the data analysis to confirm reliability, validity, goodness-of-fit of the model, and hypotheses. The findings revealed that variety seeking and personal innovativeness significantly impacted product evaluation and behavioral intention. In contrast, the desire for unique products and cosmopolitanism had no impact on product evaluation and behavioral intention. In addition, both product evaluation and behavioral intention also had a significant impact on the willingness to use coffee house services. Therefore, for practical implications, business owners and entrepreneurs could enhance product varieties to attract more customers for better sales revenue generation.

ABSTRACT

This study analyses the dimensions of self-service technology that affect intentions of using e-wallets on mobile platforms. Our study is unique because the Covid-19 pandemic alters consumer intentions to use the E-wallet. We collect data from 307 Vietnamese users through online questionnaires and focus group interviews. We analyze the data sample by applying the Theory of Technology Acceptance and a part of Behavior Intention. Our findings indicate that Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Trust, Risk, and Personal Innovativeness in Information Technology increase the intention to use E-wallet services in Vietnam. Our findings extend the literature related to essential characteristics of mobile wallets that support the marketing of mobile wallet products. Our study also recommends increasing the attractiveness of using electronic payment via mobile wallets. © 2023, SRAC - Romanian Society for Quality. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to understand the factors behind university teachers' ability to implement instructional changes during the COVID-19 pandemic. An online questionnaire comprised of open-ended and Likert-scale questions was administered to teachers at a Finnish university in April 2020. The sample consisted of 378 university teachers who were categorised into four groups based on their digital innovativeness and the extent to which they implemented changes to adapt their teaching practices to COVID-19 restrictions: Avoider Survival Adapters, Avoider Ambitious Adapters, Embracer Survival Adapters, and Embracer Ambitious Adapters. We examined the association between the teacher groups and their learning patterns and background characteristics. The findings showed that Embracer Ambitious Adapters have significantly more meaning-oriented and application-oriented learning patterns than Embracer Survival Adapters, though Avoider Survival Adapters have more problematic learning patterns. Furthermore, the results indicated that pedagogical training and having more teaching experience helped innovative teachers embrace more changes in their teaching practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. In terms of discipline, the results showed that teachers working in hard disciplines (e.g., physics) were more likely to belong to the Embracer Survival Adapters group, while teachers working in soft disciplines (e.g., history) were more likely to belong to the Embracer Ambitious Adapters group. Possible interpretations of these findings and perspectives for further research are discussed.

PurposeDigital tourism has drawn the attention of researchers around the globe. This study aims to assess the digital tourism experience for tourist site revisit from an emerging market perspective.Design/methodology/approachAnchored on the social cognitive theory, the study employed a quantitative method, using the convenience sampling to select 328 participants who responded to tourism and technology sharing items through an online questionnaire. The study's hypotheses were tested utilizing structural equation modelling.FindingsThe results suggest a significant influence of technology-based service innovativeness on service value, tourist site revisits and experience sharing through technology. Further, the findings also revealed the significant influence of service value on tourist site revisit and experience-sharing through technology.Research limitations/implicationsThis study was conducted with only clients or tourists, and this limits generalization of the study's findings.Practical implicationsThe study offers the understanding of how tourist site operators and all stakeholders have to deploy new ways of technology-based service innovation to get maximum return on their investment in the hospitality industry.Originality/valueThe outcome of this research advanced the linkage between technology and tourism in context, which is important to policymakers and practitioners in the sector.

ABSTRACT

We research the antecedents of relative success among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in avoiding temporary or permanent closure during the COVID‐19 pandemic. We investigate the roles of firm‐specific resources and state support policies in influencing SME fortunes, in a sizeable group of European countries covered in the World Bank Enterprise Survey. Using resource dependency, Varieties of Capitalism and Systems theories, we find that innovative capacities, institutional connectedness, governance, and management experience were major antecedents of success across all SMEs. Significant differences in outcomes were found between SMEs operating in old and new EU member states, and non‐EU countries.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the number of people who experienced the exhibits was less than planned. Nevertheless, we were able to deliver surprises and smiles to the participants at the venues where we could provide the experiences. We believe that these interactions with the advanced technologies of our laboratories, which are not normally accessible to the public, enabled many people to experience firsthand NTT's innovativeness. ABSTRACT

Online food ordering (OFDO) services grew tremendously during the covid-19 pandemic due to rising health concerns and social distancing policies put in place. This research aims to examine the relationship between technology readiness level and intention to use OFDO services in Indonesia. Moreover, this research also incorporates the moderating effect of covid-19 pandemic. Surveys were distributed and data were analyzed using multiple regression. The results suggest that the driver variables (optimism and innovativeness) have significant positive effect on intention to use OFDO, while the inhibitor variables (insecurity and discomfort) have no significant effect on intention to use. Furthermore, the moderation of covid-19 situational effect shows significant results for all four variables. These findings suggest that OFDO services should brace themselves towards the end of the pandemic since the booster effect that it gets from the pandemic will soon be gone and they need to take extra measures to retain customers in the absence of the covid-19 pandemic. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Introduction. The pandemic was a challenge to our contemporaries and focused the attention of researchers on psychological resources that facilitate its overcoming. Empirical studies of the psychological regulation system of the personality's vital activity during this period, reflected in the special aspects of the innovative, value and regulatory characteristics of representatives of various social groups, are quite limited, which led to the relevance and novelty of this study. Methods. The scale "Self-Assessment of Personality's Innovative Qualities” by N. M. Lebedeva and A. N. Tatarko was used, which allows for studying the psychological components that determine innovative human behaviour. Regulatory characteristics were studied using the "Personal Readiness for Activity (PRA)” scale by S. A. Bogomaz, I. V. Atamanova and I. A. Filenko. Value orientations were determined using the Schwartz's questionnaire "Portrait Value Questionnaire-Revised (PVQ-R)”, modified by K. V. Sugonyaev. To evaluate the studied variables concerning the pandemic influence, the authors used such criteria as a test of differences and network analysis of partial correlations using the EBICglasso regularization method. Results. The results of the study showed significant changes in several innovative, value and regulatory characteristics in the conditions of the pandemic, most of which were associated with the gender factor. The restructuring of the network structure of psychological indicators during the pandemic is going in opposite directions in groups of young men and women. The female sample shows attenuation of moderate and strong network relationships during the transition from 2019 to 2020, which means the network structure becomes more amorphous. For the male sample group, the opposite trend is observed – in 2020, initially, the amorphous network structure becomes multi-connected, structured, and clearly expressed. Discussion. The non-specific and specific effects of the pandemic on the psychological characteristics that ensure the regulation of vital activity in young men and women aged 17 to 28 years are discussed. © 2022, Russian Psychological Society. ABSTRACT

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate the conditional indirect effect of innovativeness on performance via supply chain agility (SCA) in the service industry at higher and lower collaborative relationships.Design/methodology/approachThe hypothesised model is operationalised with survey data from 245 Australian service firms collected via LinkedIn and analysed using structural equation modelling and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA).FindingsThe analysis found that SCA significantly mediates the relationship between innovativeness and performance. Further, the conditional indirect effect of innovativeness on performance via SCA was significant when the collaborative relationship was high. Results also revealed that a configuration of both innovativeness and agility better predicts performance.Originality/valueThis study is an early attempt to investigate SCA in service industries by scrutinizing SCA from an innovative point of view. While previous studies have demonstrated the role of innovativeness in enhancing a firm's performance, this study explores this link further by investigating the conditional indirect effect of innovativeness on performance via SCA at different levels of collaborative relationships.
